May 27, 2023 | Track & Field
JACKSONVILLE - - Ball State University junior Charity Griffith tied for fourth place in the high jump during Saturday's NCAA East Preliminary Round, securing her spot among 12 qualifiers for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, June 7-10 in Austin, Texas. She will return to the NCAA Championships stage where she finished fifth in the high jump last season.
Griffith was one of just seven of 24 competitors to clear 1.82m in the East Prelims, eclipsing the height on her second attempt. The top three finishers cleared the height on their first attempt.
The two-time defending Mid-American Conference high jump champion, Griffith placed 10th at the 2022 NCAA East Preliminary Round last year after clearing 1.84m. That effort earned her a spot at the 2022 NCAA Championships where she cleared 1.83m to earn first team All-America honors.
