Ball State's Rogers Improves Long Jump Ranking at NCAA East Preliminaries

JACKSONVILLE - - Ball State University junior Jenelle Rogers finished 26th out of 48 long jump competitors in her debut appearance in the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field East Preliminary Round. She recorded a jump of 5.98m on her third and final jump to move up from her pre-event ranking in 37th out of 48 competitors. The top 12 performers in Friday's event qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, June 7-10 in Austin, Texas.

Rogers is also a multi-event competitor for Ball State and already has qualified for her debut in the early June NCAA Outdoor Championships as one of 24 student-athletes nationally to qualify in the heptathlon. She set a program record and won the MAC Championship with a score of 5,667 points. She will enter the championships ranked 21st in the heptathlon.

Saturday at 2:30 p.m., Cardinals teammate Charity Griffith with perform in the NCAA East Preliminary Round high jump competition for the third straight season. She enters the event as the No. 4 seed after clearing a career-best and program-record height of 1.85m at the 2023 Music City Challenge (April 29).
