
T&F Dominates at Margaret Simmons Invitational

MURRAY, Ky – The Ball State track and field team finished the Margaret Simmons Invitational with three event wins, 17 top-three finishes and multiple personal best performances, earning them a first-place finish as a team with 115 total points.

The 4x100 quartet of Moriah Johnson, Alana Springer, Lindley Steele and Jenna Oriani tallied a season personal best time with a 45.60, a time that would earn them an event win in the 4x100 relay.

Freshman Alana Springer picked up an event and heat win in the 100m dash with an 11.87. Jenna Oriani followed suit, placing second with a 12.01. Moriah Johnson completed the top-three sweep in the event, running a 12.12.

Allison Valladay crushed her personal best time in the 400m, running a 56.61 and earning a second-place finish overall. Valladay won her heat by over 30 meters.

Senior Charity Griffith earned a lifetime personal best in the 100m hurdles with a 14.19, earning her a second-place finish. Junior Jenelle Rogers also tallied a personal best in the 100m hurdles with a 14.30, earning a fourth-place finish. Senior Lea-Marie Diedicke and Mary Porter both picked up heat wins in the 100m hurdles.

Jenna Oriani and Alana Springer completed the one-two finish in the 200m with Oriani's first-place time of 24.56 and Springer's second-place time of 24.57.

Juliana Stogsdill recorded a lifetime personal best in the 1500m, running a 4:41.84. Also scoring lifetime personal bests in the 1500m were Sarah Mahnensmith (4:42.71) and Ella Fullmer (4:59.01).

Malena Higgins tallied a second-place finish in the shot put (38-9.5/11.82m) and a third-place finish in the discus (112-02/34.20m).

McKenna Cinotte finished second in the triple jump, scoring a 35-11.50 / 10.96m.

Sarah Greer made her 5k collegiate debut and earned a lifetime personal record, running an 18:01.48. Jenna Schifferer ran an outdoor best in the 5k (18:34.53), and Vivian Van Eck ran her second fastest 5k time of 18:25.93.

The Cardinals will return to action on Friday, March 31 and Saturday, April 1 when they travel to Illinois State University.
