Men’s Volleyball Closes Tough MIVA Road Stretch With Win At Quincy
February 25, 2023 | Men's Volleyball
QUINCY, Ill. - The No. 12 Ball State men's volleyball team (9-5, 4-2 MIVA) closed its two-match Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) road stretch with a dominating 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-22) sweep at Quincy (4-10, 0-6 MIVA) Saturday night in Pepsi Arena.
The Cardinals used a strong offense which was accompanied by an all-around team effort to complete this weekend's two-match MIVA road competition where the Cardinals currently sit in third place behind Loyola Chicago and Ohio State.
Ball State would trail at the start of each set but quickly took control of the situation before Quincy could take a dramatic lead. Strong serves again by Bryce Behrendt and kills from Kaleb Jenness allowed Ball State to squeeze past Quincy in the first and second sets.
The Cardinals hit .346 from the floor in the first two frames but struggled in the third which led Ball State to rely on its defense in order to complete the three-set sweep over the Hawks.
Jenness led all players with 19 kills while hitting .516 from the floor off 31 swings. David Flores dished out 37 assists, had three defensive digs and three block assists.
The Ball State men's volleyball team returns to Worthen Arena Wednesday in non-conference action when it hosts Central State University for a 6 pm ET first serve.
