Men’s Tennis Earns 5-2 Midweek Match Over Dayton

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State men's tennis team (7-3) earned a midweek 5-2 victory over Dayton (7-6) Wednesday afternoon at the Northwest YMCA.
The Cardinals were able to inch ahead of the Flyers early in the match after taking doubles victories on courts three and one, respectively.
Jacks Lancaster alongside teammate Eli Herran were the first to exit doubles play after posting a 6-2 defeat against Dayton's No. 3 doubles team of Charlie Cowan and Max DeCurtins.
Shortly after, the top court of Danilo Kovacevic and Parrish Simmons were able to stay atop of Connor Bruce and Matt DeMarco for a 7-5 win to clinch the doubles point.
The Cardinals took four of the six singles competitions from the Flyers with Eli Herran claiming match point at the No. 3 slot. Herran took a tightly contested first set from Dayton's Eric Perkowski, 7-6 (8-6) and then registered a 6-4 score in the second frame.
The Ball State men's tennis team will remain at home Saturday when it hosts IUPUI at the Northwest YMCA. First serve is at 1 pm ET.
