Indoor Track has a Promising Start to the Season

MUNCIE, Ind. -- Track and field opened its indoor season Friday evening in Saginaw, Michigan. The team competed in five events at the SVSU Holiday Open.Â
Ashley Pernecker and Maci Easton were the first Cardinals to compete, each running in the 400m dash. In her first collegiate indoor meet, Pernecker took sixth place out of 25 competitors with a time of 59.35. Easton improved her season-opener time by almost three seconds. Â
Evie Noel had a strong start to her season as well, finishing second in the 800m run with a time of 2:22.17. Mikayla Mimnaugh also competed in the 800m for her collegiate track debut. She finished with a time of 2:30.27. Â
In Maci Hoskins's collegiate track debut, she competed in the 5000m run, tying her personal best with a time of 18:57.23. Â
The Cardinals will now look ahead to next Saturday when they will attend the Tom Wright Open hosted by Bowling Green. `Â
