Field Hockey Falls in Defensive Clash at Davidson

DAVIDSON, NC - The Ball State field hockey team (5-6) fell in a defensive battle to Davidson (5-8) by a one goal decision (1-0) Friday night under the lights at Carol Grotnes Belk Field.Â

The game was a defensive thriller as both teams held each other scoreless in the first 30 minutes of action.Â
Â
Unfortunately, the Wildcats snuck one past the Cardinals' goalkeeper Hannah Johnston right after the halftime break to take a 1-0 edge over Ball State.Â
Â
After that, Ball State didn't allow Davidson to score another goal. The downside though for the Cardinals was they couldn't get their offense to click tonight despite Ball State's efforts. The Cardinals totaled 10 shots and four shots on goal.Â

Defensively, Johnston collected 11 saves in tonight's game. After tonight's performance, Johnston has 83 saves for the season and 297 for her career.Â

The Ball State field hockey team continues its two-game road weekend when it returns to Mid-American Conference action Sunday at Longwood. The game is slated to begin at noon.
