Field Hockey Ends Season at Michigan State Sunday

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Ball State field hockey team (7-11) ended its 2023 season Sunday afternoon after suffering a 4-0 loss at Big Ten foe Michigan State (4-12).Â
Â
Senior Hannah Johnston started in goal, facing seven corners while tallying two saves.Â
Â
The Cardinals struggled offensively and couldn't seem to get into a rhythm despite their efforts. Kerrianne McClay led Ball State with two shot attempts while Fleur Knopert had one shot on goal.Â
Â
It wasn't a total loss for the Cardinals today, defensively Ball State held Michigan State scoreless the entirety of the second and third quarters.Â
Â
The Spartans scored two goals in both the first and fourth periods which ultimately led to Michigan State's victory today.Â
Â
All-in-all the Cardinals had another successful season under second-year head coach Caitlin Walsh winning seven games total for back-to-back seasons a feat Ball State has not accomplished in over a decade.
