
T&F Tallies One Event Win, Six Top-Five Performances on Day Two of IU Relays

BLOOMINGTON, IN – The Ball State track and field team wrapped up day two of the IU Relays with one event win, one heat win, and six top-five performances.

In the first event of the day, the 60m hurdles, junior Jenelle Rogers and senior Charity Griffith put on an exciting race, finishing first and second with only three thousandths of a second separating them. Jenelle Rogers won the 60m hurdles running an 8.802, her career best. Charity Griffith was right behind, completing the 1-2 finish and running an 8.805, her season best time.

In the 400m, sophomore Jenna Oriani ran a 57.16, winning her heat and tallying an indoor personal best and a season best. Oriani finished second overall in the 400m in a competitive group. Freshman Allison Valladay earned a personal best indoor time in the 400m (58.31).

Kayla Jones tallied a personal best in the indoor 800m (2:10.00). Junior Vivian Van Eck ran her season best in the 3000m (10:18.01), her fastest 3000m time since 2020. Sarah Greer's debut 3000m time crushed her previous high school 320 mark by 20 seconds.

Finishing the meet for the Cardinals was the quartet of Emma Potter, Jenelle Rogers, Charity Griffith, and Kayla Jones who placed third overall and showed a strong performance in the 4x400 relay (3:53.19).

"This week, the team demonstrated, once again, that by working together and supporting each other, we can accomplish great things. We had some adversity at this week's competition, but it's always lesson, never a failure," head coach Adrian Wheatley said. "This weekend was a dress rehearsal and a testament to the power of unity and strength of our team. I'm excited to build on this momentum and strive for even more growth and improvement in the weeks to come."
