It’s Drey Day; Drey Jameson Called Up to Diamondbacks

PHOENIX – The Arizona Diamondbacks called up former Ball State ace Drey Jameson to the majors on Thursday. Jameson joins fellow Cardinals Alex Call and Zach Plesac in the big leagues. Jameson becomes the 17th Ball State player to make it to the major leagues.
At the conclusion of last season, Jameson was awarded the Minor League Baseball Rawlings Gold Glove Award for being the best fielding pitcher in the minors. He was selected in the first round of the 2019 draft. He was named the Mid-American Conference Pitcher of the Year in 2019 before being drafted. He was also a Collegiate Baseball News All-American. He struck out a conference-record 146 batters while going 6-3 with a 3.24 ERA. He held batters to a .219 average and had seven starts with 10+ strikeouts, including 16 on May 3 at Northern Illinois and 13 on March 29 vs. Kent State.
This season with the Reno Aces, Jameson has tallied 132 strikeouts in 132 2/3 innings of work. He has a WHIP of 1.49 in 26 appearances and has held opponents to a .286 batting average. On May 26, he struck out 10 batters in a no decision against the Oklahoma City Dodgers.
Jameson is scheduled to make his major league debut on Thursday, Sept. 15, against the San Diego Padres. First pitch from Phoenix is scheduled for 9:40 p.m. ET.
