Wielonski Claims MAC West Division Setter of the Week Honors
August 30, 2022 | Women's Volleyball
CLEVELAND, Ohio - - After leading the Ball State women's volleyball team to three wins and a league-best .286 team attack percentage last weekend, sophomore setter Megan Wielonski has been named the Mid-American Conference West Division Setter of the Week.
A four-time award winner last season, Wielonski was named to the USF Opening Weekend Invite All-Tournament Team after dishing out 135 assists and averaging 10.38 assists per set while guiding the Cardinals to the tournament title. She was just as strong in the backcourt, collecting 40 total digs, including a career-high 22 in Friday evening's 3-2 win over the host Bulls, for a 3.08 digs-per-set average.
The 2021 MAC Freshman of the Year, Wielonski was also a force on offense herself, smashing 11 total kills and hitting .303. That effort went along with her team-high seven service aces for the event. To round out a solid stat line, she finished the USF Invite with six total blocks, including combining for the match-winning point in the five-set thriller against the Bulls.
Wielonski and the rest of the Ball State women's volleyball team return to action Friday when they battle Oklahoma (2p CT) and Lipscomb (7p CT) at the LUV Invitational hosted by Lipscomb.
