August 24, 2022 | Women's Basketball
MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State women's basketball team released its 2022-23 schedule in its entirety Wednesday. Just like in years past, 11th-year head coach Brady Sallee and his staff have put together an array of challenging non-conference opponents for the Cardinals talented squad in preparation for their 2023 Mid-American Conference slate.
The Cardinals start the month of November with an exhibition game in Worthen Arena on Nov. 1 against Wheeling University.
Ball State's season opener will be on the road at Tennessee Tech (Nov. 7) before the team returns home for back-to-back contests against IU East (Nov. 14) and in-state rival Butler (Nov. 17). Ball State heads back on the road Nov. 20 when it travels to South Bend for a showdown against Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) powerhouse and the 2018 national champions, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
After that, Ball State rounds out the month of November with a Thanksgiving Break trip in Utah where the Cardinals will play at Utah State (Nov. 23) and BYU (Nov. 26).
Make sure to mark your calendars for the first week of December as the Cardinals will play in Worthen Arena a total of three times hosting Western Kentucky (Dec. 1), Saint Louis (Dec. 5), IUPUI (Dec. 8).
On Dec. 11, Ball State travels to its second ACC opponent, Pitt to take on the Panthers in the Petersen Events Center. The Cardinals will fly to warmer weather, as they participate in the Puerto Rico Classic against Tarleton State (Dec. 19) and Richmond (Dec. 20).
After the quick holiday break, Ball State ends the 2022 calendar year with their final non-conference competition, hosting Chicago State Dec. 30.
Ball State will open the 2023 18-game Mid-American Conference campaign which will include eight games at home and eight on the road over a nine-week span in Worthen Arena on Jan. 4 against Bowling Green. The Cardinals will play home-and-home series with all five divisional opponents, face each cross divisional program once and play a second game versus Akron, Bowling Green, Miami and Ohio. Ball State will end the MAC regular season on the road against league rival the rival RedHawks in Oxford, Ohio on March 4.
The conference tournament runs March 8-11 with the league's top eight teams advancing to Cleveland for quarterfinals, semifinals and the title game on Saturday, March 11.
