Ball State places nine on Phil Steele’s Preseason All-MAC teams

Cardinals earn preseason nods in annual magazine
MUNCIE, Ind. – Ball State had strong representation in Phil Steele College Football Preview's 2022 preseason All-Mid-American Conference teams as nine players earned a spot.
Wide receiver Jayshon Jackson and offensive lineman Corey Stewart earned a spot on the second team, while the third team had the biggest contingent of Cardinals.
Linebacker Clayton Coll, safety Malcolm Lee, long snapper Dylan Seiler, running back Carson Steele and cornerback Amechi Uzodinma II were placed on the third team.
Rounding out the list, linebacker Brandon Martin and wideout Yo'Heinz Tyler were tabbed to the fourth team.
In addition, Athlon Sports published its annual preseason magazine and featured a multitude of Ball State players.
Martin and Uzodinma were chosen for the second team, while offensive lineman Ethan Crowe, defensive lineman Tavion Woodard, Coll, Jackson and Steele picked up nods on the third team.
Offensive lineman Jaylen Turner and Tyler were selected to the fourth team.
The Cardinals return 36 letterwinners from a team that reached a bowl game for the second consecutive season last campaign.
The 2022 football season begins Thursday, Sept. 1 when Ball travels to Tennessee for a 7 p.m. ET kickoff on SEC Network. Scheumann Stadium opens its gates for the home opener Sept. 10 for the MAC opener vs. Western Michigan.
