Full day of events in Muncie on Saturday, April 16
MUNCIE, Ind. – Ball State athletics has a loaded slate for Cardinal Spring Saturday this weekend in Muncie. The Cardinals are hosting a plethora of home events, including baseball, football, men's volleyball and track and field.
Men's volleyball tickets are on sale now for $10 for adults and $5 for children 18 and under. CLICK HERE to buy now! All other events are free to attend.
The day begins with an open practice for the football team at 11 a.m. at Scheumann Stadium. Saturday marks the final spring practice for the Cardinals, who are coming off back-to-back bowl berths for just the third time ever.
Also starting at 11 a.m. will be the second day of the We Fly Challenge for the track and field team in its only home meet of the season. Friday will feature field events, while Saturday will include running events and a senior recognition.
First pitch for the baseball doubleheader vs. Akron begins at noon at the Ball Diamond at First Merchants Ballpark Complex. Saturday will mark the second and third games of a four-game series against the Zips, which wraps up Sunday. At 12-2 in league play, the Cardinals are deep in the hunt for a conference title.
The day concludes with a men's volleyball match against Quincy inside Worthen Arena at 7 p.m. in the quarterfinals of the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) Tournament. The Cardinals captured the regular season crown for the first time since 1997 on the final day of the season in a 3-1 win at Purdue Fort Wayne.
SAAC Food Collection
Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will be collecting nonperishable food items (examples: soup, canned vegetables, canned fruit) on Saturday during the women's track and field meet, spring football, baseball and men's volleyball game. The track and field collection time will be 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Baseball collection time is 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Football collection time will be 30 minutes before the start and the box will be collected at the end of the game. Men's volleyball collection time is 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Fans are also welcome to make a donation on behalf of SAAC by using the link below to the QR code or go to www.curehunger.org to donate online. A donation of $1 = 4 meals for a family in need!
