Hensley Earns Second Straight Player of the Week Honor
April 12, 2022 | Softball
CLEVELAND - - For the second straight week, Ball State senior left fielder Faith Hensley has been named the Mid-American Conference Softball Player of the Week.
Hensley, who shares the honor with Miami's Karlie Spaid, was nearly unstoppable at the plate last week, boasting a .474 batting average, a .630 on base percentage, and a 1.368 slugging percentage. Over BSU's six games she tallied nine hits including three doubles, a triple, and four home runs.
Â
Hensley, who led the Ball State offense with 10 RBI and 11 runs scored, accounted for 17 of BSU's 47 runs on the week. She also drew eight walks and stole a base, while reaching bases safely in all six games, including smashing at least one hit in five of the contests.
Â
In the opening game of the April 6 doubleheader at NIU, Hensley scored what proved to be the game-winning run after drawing a leadoff walk. She provided another pivotal at-bat in the series finale at Ohio (April 11), with a game-tying, two-run home run in the fourth.
Â
Hensley and the Cardinals are currently battling IUPUI in a non-conference showdown in Indianapolis. Ball State will then travel to Toledo for a single game Friday (3 p.m.) and a doubleheader Saturday (1 p.m.).
