Defensively, Ball State forced Bowling Green (10-9, 5-5 MAC) to commit 13 turnovers by intermission and capitalized by turning those miscues into 12 points.
The Cardinals outscored the Falcons 24-14 in the second quarter to take an 11-point advantage (42-31) at the break. Freshman Ally Becki was well on her way to another impressive showing with 13 points after two quarters of play.
But Bowling Green wasn't going to go away silently. The Falcons game out of the gates strong in the third quarter of play, outscoring the Cardinals 17-4 to come within two (48-46) at the 6:15 mark.
The Cardinals though, as they have been doing in their last five contests, responded. Ball State answered quickly with a 10-3 scoring spree of its own with help from junior Estel Puiggros and freshman Marie Kiefer to go back up 58-49 with 3:30 left in the third frame.
Ball State maintained a 67-60 lead over Bowling Green heading into the final 10 minutes of play.
The Falcons kept within reach of the Cardinals in the fourth stanza, but by the halfway point, the Cardinals had built a 16-point cushion (89-73) which was capped off by back-to-back baskets from senior Chyna Latimer.
After that, Bowling Green couldn't regroup and make a comeback, allowing Ball State to win its fifth-straight league game.
For the contest, Kiefer led the Cardinals with a double-double with a career best in points (24) and rebounds (11) while also shooting an impressive 90 percent from the field (9-of-10). Behind Kiefer was her classmate Becki who scored 15 points while Latimer wasn't too far behind, chipping in 14. Rounding out the double figures today was junior Sydney Freeman with 11 and senior Thelma Dis Agustsdottir who had 10.
