Cardinals Host Eagles in Worthen on Saturday

MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State Cardinals men's basketball team returns to Worthen Arena for a Mid-American Conference matchup with Eastern Michigan on Saturday. The Cardinals and Eagles are scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. tip and the game is sponsored by Reed's Plumbing. BSU and EMU will be the second game of a men's and women's doubleheader.
Ball State students be sure to arrive early and enter for a chance to shoot a half-court shot for a $100 Arch Card.
Last time out against Kent State, Miryne Thomas led the Cardinals with 19 points along with five assists, four rebounds, a game-high two blocks, and two steals. Payton Sparks added 15 points, a team-high six rebounds, two assists, and a block. Luke Bumbalough chipped in with 14 points, three rebounds, and two assists. Jaylin Sellers tallied a career-high 12 points along with three rebounds, one steal, and an assist. Demarius Jacobs went for 10 points, a career-high eight assists, four rebounds, two steals, and one block.
Sparks leads the team in points per game and rebounds per game with 13.4 and 8.2, respectively. He is second on the team with 13 blocks. Sparks is tied for 14th in the NCAA with 177 free-throw attempts, which leads the MAC. Cochran is second on the team in scoring and rebounding averaging 11.9 points per contest and 5.7 boards per game. Cochran is tied for 30th in the NCAA and leads the MAC with 56 steals. Thomas and Bumbalough are both averaging 11.5 points per game. Thomas has a team-best 17 blocks, while Jacobs has 11 blocks. Jacobs and Bumbalough are tied for the team lead with 75 assists each. As a team, the Cardinals are 49th in the country with a .368 3-point field-goal percentage and lead the MAC.
In the matchup against EMU earlier this season, Bumbalough recorded 20 points. He tied with Sparks for the team lead in rebounding with six. Cochran finished with 17 points, including a perfect 5-for-5 at the free-throw line. Thomas and Jacobs each chipped in with 10 points. Jacobs notched a game-high four assists. Sellers and Sparks each blocked a shot. Sellers added nine points and went a perfect 4-for-4 from the field along with a team-high three steals.
This will be the 111th meeting between the two squads. The Cardinals lead the series 65-45. BSU is on a five-game winning streak against EMU, including a 78-72 victory in Ypsilanti, Michigan, earlier this season. The Cardinals are 28-20 at home against the Eagles.
Noah Farrakhan leads the Eagles with 16.5 points per game and has a team-best 58 assists. Bryce McBride is averaging 11.6 points per contest, while Monty Scott closes out the double-figure scorers with 10.3 a game. Nate Scott has brought down a team-best 5.5 rebounds per contest. Mo Njie has been a force defensively with 27 blocked shots, while Nate Scott has added 20 blocks. Monty Scott leads EMU with 32 steals.
In the meeting earlier this season, Colin Golson led the Eagles with 16 points. Farrakhan and Darion Spottsville added double-digit performances with 13 and 12, respectively. Nate Scott brought down a game-high nine rebounds. Farrakhan recorded a game-high four steals.
