Ball State begins indoor postseason at conference meet
MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State track and field team is set to compete at the Mid-American Conference Indoor Championships, Feb. 25-26. The annual meet is slated to take place in Kent, Ohio at the Kent State Field House.
"We're excited to have the opportunity to compete at the MAC Championships this weekend," head coach Adrian Wheatley said. "One of the things that we talked about all year long is that everything we've done up to this point is for the big show. This weekend is an opportunity to go out and perform like we've been preparing for all season long. We are expecting individuals to compete courageously, compete for each other and represent themselves and the team to the best of their abilities."
The Cardinals will aim for a top-three finish, something that has happened just once since 2010 when Ball State placed third in 2020. Last season, the Cardinals finished eighth.
Ball State has been crowned team champions three times: 1996, 1998 and 2001.
The action for the two-day meet begins Friday at 11 a.m. with the long jump and ends after the distance medley relay at 7:15 p.m. Saturday's events begin at 1:30 p.m. with the mile run and wraps up with the 4x400 meter relay at 4:40 p.m. The awards ceremony is set to take place at 5 p.m.
Admission for this year's event is $15 per day for adults and $10 per day for youths (ages 3-12). An all-session pass will also be available for purchase at $20 for adults and $15 for youths. Doors will open one hour prior to the start of competition each day.
Per University health protocols, a reminder that masks are required to be worn inside all campus buildings, including the Kent State Field House, regardless of vaccination status for all faculty, staff, and fans. Failure to comply with the mask mandate is grounds for removal from the facility.
