CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Ball State men's tennis team swept the Mid-American Conference weekly award with senior Thibault de Negri earning MAC Men's Tennis Singles Athlete of the Week and the duo of Danilo Kovacevic and Chris Adams earning MAC Doubles Team of the Week.
de Negri had a successful 3-0 week in singles action which began on court two with a three-set thrill over Butler's Alvaro Huettte Vadillo on Wednesday. After dropping the first set 3-6 de Negri came back to win sets two and three, helping BSU beat its in-state rival 4-2.
On Friday, de Negri earned a straight set victory again at the No. 2 spot against Xavier's Ryan Cahill, 6-1, 6-3.
de Negri then helped BSU close out its busy three-match road week with a 6-1 win at IUPUI on Sunday. de Negri won that match at No. 2 singles 6-1, 6-3 versus the Jaguars Colton Morehart.
Ball State's dynamic No. 1 duo of Adams and Kovacevic went 2-0 this week for the Cardinals. The twosome started the week off with 6-1 take down over Ryan Cahill and Diego Nava at Xavier on court one. Adams and Kovacevic then mimicked another great performance on Sunday after defeating Alex Jochim and Emil Jankowski at No. 1 doubles by a score of 6-4.
The Ball State men's tennis team continues spring action today at Illinois State before returning home Saturday to host Big Ten foe Michigan State at 1 pm ET.
