Ball State to compete in one meet prior to semester break
MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State track and field team is set to begin its indoor season Saturday, Dec. 10 when it makes the short trip to Bowling Green, Ohio for the Tom Wright Open. Field events begin at 12 p.m. ET and running events begin at 1 p.m. ET, with all the action taking place at Perry Field House.
It will be the Cardinals' first competition of the 2022-23 indoor campaign and the first time they've competed since the Mid-American Conference Championships last spring.
"I'm excited for this meet, especially for our track kids," head coach Adrian Wheatley said. "They've been training all fall. It's been a really good fall and the kids have been dialed in and focused on the bigger picture. I'm just excited for them to get out and compete against other teams. This is the beginning of our season and another opportunity for us to prepare for the big show."
Ball State will lean on the experience of 13 upperclassmen on its roster with six seniors and seven juniors. The bulk of the roster is made up of underclassmen featuring 10 sophomores and 13 freshmen.
Following a month break, Ball State's next indoor meet is slated for Jan. 14 at the Hawkeye Invitational in Iowa City, Iowa.
