Women’s Basketball Earns Impressive Exhibition Win Over Wheeling
November 01, 2022 | Women's Basketball
MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State women's basketball team picked up right where they left off last season with the Cardinals earning an impressive 83-40 victory over Wheeling University in exhibition action Tuesday night in Worthen Arena.
"It was a good start to the season," Ball State head coach Brady Sallee said. "I was really excited about the crowd that showed up for an exhibition game. I liked our tempo, and I liked our depth. I thought we took care of the ball which is something we really have been hammering on in practice. We had a lot of good performances tonight."
A total of 11 different players saw action for the Cardinals, with 10 of the 11 scoring at least two points. The high scorers for Ball State had 15 and 14 points, respectively.
What stood out the most was the Cardinals defense, forcing Wheeling to commit 23 turnovers. Ball State would score 25 points off those miscues.
The Ball State women's basketball team officially opens the 2022-23 season next Monday, Nov. 7, when it plays at Tennessee Tech. That game is scheduled to tip-off at 7 pm ET.
