October 06, 2022 | Men's Tennis
MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State men's tennis team continues its fall campaign at home this weekend with the Ball State Fall Invite. The three-day event, which runs Friday through Sunday, will also feature Butler, IUPUI and Marquette.
This weekend's competition will be the 38th edition of the Ball State Fall Invite which is set to begin at 11:30 a.m. ET on Friday with two rounds of doubles and one round of singles in a compass draw format.
Saturday and Sunday's matches will start at 10 a.m. ET each day. The tournament will be played on Ball State's home outdoor court the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center, weather permitting. If inclement weather were to occur the matches will be moved indoors at the Northwest YMCA.
The Cardinals have been successful thus far this fall season after having a strong showing at the James O'Connell Memorial Tournament which took place on the campus of Dayton (Sept. 23-24). After the two-day event the Cardinals went 11-7 in singles play and 8-1 in doubles action.
BSU tennis welcomes back former player and alumnus Steve Rodecap, who is the head coach at Marquette. Rodecap played at Ball State from 1992-96 while helping the Cardinals to a trio of Mid-American Conference Championship titles (1992-93, 1993-94, 1994-95). The Anderson, Ind., native is in his year 20th year at the helm of the Golden Eagles.
