Big Week for Ball State Soccer, Travel to Kent State, Host Buffalo

MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State soccer team will be back in action for two more Mid-American Conference matchups. The Cardinals start the week on Thursday, Oct. 20. with a road contest against Kent State, who is currently in third in the MAC standings, followed by a home match with first place Buffalo on Sunday, Oct. 23.
Ball State enters the week with a 6-4-5 overall record and is 5-1-2 in conference play. Kent State currently has an overall mark of 4-6-5 and is 4-1-3 in MAC contests, while Buffalo is 11-1-3 overall and 5-0-3 in conference matches.
Last Time Out
The Cardinals are coming off a 1-0-1 week after a draw with Akron and a road win against Ohio. Avery Fenchel recorded her team-leading 11th goal against Akron and was assisted by Abby Elgert. In the BSU 2-1 road win, Grace Alsop earned her first goal of the season and was assisted by Lexy Smith. Lexi Fraley notched her fourth goal of the year, which was the game-winning goal, and was assisted by Elgert.

Fenchel paces the Cardinals with 11 goals, which is tied for 10th in the nation and tied for the MAC lead. Her 11 goals are ranked second in BSU history for goals scored in a season, just two behind the leader, Kate Nadalin, with 13. The Cardinals hold the slim 12-11-2 advantage over the Golden Flashes and are 1-1 under Head Coach Josh Rife. Kent State has a 9-4-0 record at home against Ball State, including a 3-0 victory last season in Kent, Ohio. The Cardinals have won six of the last eight meetings.

Kent State is lead by Alisa Arthur, Siena Stambolich, and Kelsey Salopek, who have all scored three goals each. Delaney Ranallo and Mary Kate Lape have two goals each. Arthur has a team-best four assists, while Stambolich and Ranallo each have two assists. Sarah Melén has started all 15 matches in goal for the Golden Flashes.
