Each fire 1-under 71 to cap first tournament of the season
NORMAL, Ill. – Payton Bennett and Morgan Lewis each fired a 1-under 71 to pace Ball State in the final round of the Redbird Invitational Monday. Lewis tied for 12th overall at 6-over, while Bennett finished in a tie for 70th at 20-over.
The duo combined for seven birdies and 24 pars in their final circuit of the par-72 Weibring Golf Club.
As a team, the Cardinals finished seventh in the 15-team field at 41-over (905). Eastern Kentucky won the event at 3-under (861).
Liz Kim tied for 23rd at 9-over (225), while Dylann Armstrong tied for 59th at 17-over (233).
Tiegan Taylor rounded out the lineup at finished 75th at 23-over (239).
Next up for Ball State is the annual Cardinal Classic, Sept. 20-21, at The Players Club in Yorktown, Ind.
