Introducing The Williams Society; A New Way To Invest in Ball State Athletics
October 07, 2021 | General
MUNCIE, Ind. - - The Cardinal Varsity Club is excited to announce the first-ever leadership giving society, The Williams Society, to enhance philanthropic support for Ball State Athletics and help invest, impact, and inspire our student-athletes.
Â
Supporters of Ball State Athletics who make a minimum commitment of $25,000 or more above seat and parking-related giving over five years (minimum of $5,000 a year for 5 years) are eligible to join The Williams Society. Additionally, those who document a planned gift that amounts to $250,000 or more for Ball State Athletics qualify.
Â
"Now is the time for our alumni, friends, parents, and fans who want to support Ball State Athletics with a significant philanthropic gift to come together," Ball State Director of Athletics Beth Goetz said. "The Williams Society will create sustained philanthropic support transforming the experience for our student-athletes today and for years to come."
Â
The Williams Society is an exclusive group of the most notable and philanthropic supporters for Ball State Athletics. Members will help raise the standard of success for the Cardinals'Â 19 varsity sports while advancing the student-athletes experience and allowing our programs to reach championship-level results in both the classroom and competition.
Â
Members of The Williams Society will also be stewarded with unique engagement opportunities and will be invited to join private events, special experiences, and exclusive conversations with our Director of Athletics, head coaches, and other distinctive guests during their five-year membership.
Â
The Williams Society members will enhance Ball State Athletics with an increased effort in supporting these main priorities:
Â
Why "The Williams Society"?
Paul "Billy" Williams is a prominent figure for Ball State University and played various roles in the athletics department during his time here from 1921 to 1958. He is most notable for his role shaping Ball State Athletics program traditions and enhancing our competitive excellence across the department in the early years.
Â
As a member of the Ball State Athletics Hall of Fame, he spent time as head football, basketball, baseball, and track and field coach as well as an athletics administrator and department chair. With his role across the department, he understood how financial support can positively impact the overall experience for student-athletes. Billy passed away in 1973, but his legacy in helping lay the foundation for Ball State Athletics lives on forever.
