August 06, 2021 | Field Hockey
MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State field hockey program and Cardinals' fourth-year head coach Stephanie Bernthal welcome Wake Forest transfer Ally Butler (Chesterfield, Va./Matoaca High School) to the team this fall.Â
"We are excited to add another goalkeeping talent to our squad," Bernthal said. "(Associate head coach) Chelsea (Herlocker) and I had the opportunity to work with Ally for several years during our time running USA Field Hockey sites and working with local clubs in Richmond, Virginia. We are excited that at this point Ball State is the perfect fit for what she is looking for academically and athletically. She will bring great energy, enthusiasm and competitive drive to our field hockey family. We look forward to the day we are all together on Aug. 10."
Butler, a 5-foot-6 goalkeeper, comes to Ball State from Wake Forest where she appeared in nine games and recorded 13 saves as a freshman last season.
Prior to college, Butler had a successful prep career at Matoaca High School, earning 2018 first-team all-state (5A) and second-team all-metro honors while also being a member of the all-academic squad. She holds six Virginia High School League records, including most saves in a game, most saves in a season and total career saves.Â
The Ball State field hockey team officially reports to campus for its fall camp Tuesday August 10th.Â
