July 09, 2021 | Men's Tennis
MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State men's tennis team had five of its players earn 2021 Academic All-Mid-American Conference honors as released by the league office today.
Seniors Chris Adams and Bryce Bonin earned the recognition for the second time in their careers, after both received the award following the 2018-19 season. Sophomores Eli Herran, Vincent Orlando and Parrish Simmons are first time recipients.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for student-athletes who have excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must own a cumulative GPA of at least 3.20 and participate in at least 50 percent of his team's events. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award. Due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, there was no Academic All-MAC award for the 2019-20 season.
Both Adams and Bonin earned their degrees from Ball State in accounting and sports administration, respectively, at the 2021 spring commencement. Adams has held a 4.0 grade point average during his entire four years as a student-athlete at Ball State while Bonin wrapped up his final season with a 3.825 GPA.
Herran (computer information, 3.831), Orlando (communication studies, 3.953) and Simmons (undeclared, 3.645) just finished their sophomore year at Ball State.
