Griffith Strengthens Her NCAA Case With PR High Jump
May 15, 2021 | Track & Field
TOLEDO, Ohio - A group of Ball State track & field athletes took one more crack at the postseason in a meet Saturday at Toledo, with Charity Griffith's high jump PR a highlight performance.Â
With the NCAA track & field assignments coming in the next week, head coach Brian Etelman gave some prognostications as to where the Cardinals stand.
Etelman said Griffith's 1.75m high jump at the MAC Outdoor Championships was likely good enough for an NCAA berth, and the 1.76m mark she landed at Toledo makes her "a lock." It was not only her PR but an impressive finish to an outdoor season where Griffith has shown incredible improvement. Consider her marks this spring:

Etelman described some of BSU's sprint corps as "on the bubble" when it comes to the NCAAs. MaQuila Norman, who ran a solid 23.95 200m and placed 1st on Saturday, could have a chance at the postseason. Also on the bubble would be the Cards' 4x100 relay - which didn't have Bryeana Byrdsong on Saturday but would if it advanced.
"We won't know until we see if there are any scratches," Etelman said. "We are very much on the bubble."
BSU will know NCAA assignments this Thursday, May 20 at 1 p.m.
