April 21, 2021 | Football
MUNCIE, Ind. -- The defending Mid-American Conference champion Ball State football team will take to the Scheumann Stadium turf on May 1 for the Spring Game presented by Northwest Bank. The action is set to begin at 11 a.m.
Â
The day will feature individual drills and approximately 45 minutes of competition between the offense and the defense.
Â
Limited general public attendance will be permitted for the event. Fans wishing to attend must reserve their free ticket in advance by clicking here. Face coverings will be required, and COVID protocols, including pod seating and physical distancing measures, will be in place.
Â
Ball State is in the midst of its spring practice period, as head coach Mike Neu's Cardinals begin gearing up for their title defense in 2021.
Â
Last December, BSU won its first MAC Championship since 1996 and notched its first-ever bowl victory in the Arizona Bowl. The Cardinals won their final seven games – including victories over nationally-ranked opponents Buffalo and San Jose State -- to finish 7-1 and end the year at No. 23 in both the AP and Amway Coaches polls.
Â
Excitement abounds for the upcoming season, as Ball State returns 20 starters, including nine all-conference players, from last fall. A group of 16 seniors from 2020 returns for one more go, taking advantage of an extra year of eligibility offered by the NCAA in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
