McKee, Hurdles Cards In Day 1
February 26, 2021 | Track & Field
Day 2 continues Saturday
MT. PLEASANT, Mich. - Ivy McKee achieved a first as a senior and Ball State had strong hurdles showings as the Ball State track & field team finished the first of two days at the MAC Indoor Championships at Central Michigan.
McKee, a senior, made two finals for the first time in her career. She was in the top 8 in both the 60m and the 200m. Her 60 time was 7.62 (7th place) and she crossed in 25.01 (5th place) in the 200.
"She looked like the seasoned veteran that knows how to compete at a high level," head coach Brian Etelman said.
Etelman was high on the performances of Kennedy Batts and Anasja Troutman in the 60m hurdles. Batts finished second in the prelims at 8.68 and Troutman was fifth (8.82).
"They really rose to the challenge," Etelman said.
Elka Machan placed seventh and scored in the 5000m with a time of 17:23.54. It was notable for a freshman at any MAC school to score in the 5K, as only one freshman over the last four years had done so. Machan joined that club along with CMU's Emily Paupore, who placed fourth.
