WBB Heads To The Jungle to Play In-State Rival IUPUI Wednesday

Ball State and IUPUI have met seven times, with the Cardinals leading the all-time series, 5-2. Ball State and IUPUI's last meeting was in 2020 in Muncie. The Cardinals fell to the Jaguars, 73-49.

Brady Sallee is 13-14 all-time at Ball State against teams from the state of Indiana.

The Cardinals are 2-0 against schools from the Horizon League this season after posting wins against Milwaukee (84-75 OT) and Purdue Fort Wayne (86-58).

Ball State is looking to get back on the winning track tonight against the Jaguars after falling to ACC foe Pitt on Saturday by a score of 54-64. Redshirt junior Anna Clephane led the Cardinals against the Panthers with a 17 point performance.

The Cardinals do not have to stray too far from home when traveling to IUPUI. The distance between Worthen Arena and the Jungle is approximately 54.3 south of Muncie.

On this exact same day 22 years ago the Cardinals and the Jaguars faced off in Indianapolis. Ball State defeated IUPUI by a score of 84-63 on Dec. 8, 1999.

Tonight's game will be the last road trip of 2021 for the Cardinals. Ball State will wrap up its non-conference portion of its schedule at home in Worthen Arena with games against Utah State (Dec. 11) and Bellarmine (Dec. 20).

Let The Fun Begin:
Only three games seperate the Cardinals from opening Mid-American Conference action. Ball State will host Western Michigan for its first league game this year on Dec. 30. The Cardinals have hosted the Broncos in their MAC opener a total of four times with Ball State owning a 3-1 record over WMU in those meetings.

Agustsdottir Nearing 1,000 Points:
Ball State senior crasher Thelma Dis Agustsdottir is nearing the 1,000 career point plateau. Agustsdottir currently has 946 points and needs 54 to become the 30th member of the 1,000 point club and the ninth under head coach Brady Sallee.

So Far A Lot of Depth:
11 Cardinals saw action in the Cardinals season opener while the starters combined for 58 of Ball State's 84 points, the Cardinals also got 26 points from their bench and 16 rebounds. So far this season the Cardinals bench has scored 163 of the teams 500 points (.326).

Backs, Crashers & Keys:
This year, the Cardinals are forgoing "traditional" positions and using their own such as backs, crashers, and keys, to bring a sense of team unity. That system proved to be the lift Ball State needed, especially with so many new faces on the court. BSU started the season 2-0 for the first time since 2017.

Ball Control:
In the Cardinals last two contests Ball State has been able limit its turnovers against its opponents. Against Purdue Fort Wayne, the Cardinals only committed 12 turnovers and then mimicked that type of performance against Pitt with a season low nine miscues. Currently the Cardinals turnover margin is +5.6.
