Ball State Returns to Worthen Arena for Matchup with IU Kokomo

MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State men's basketball team will be back in action on Sunday from the friendly confines of Worthen Arena as IU Kokomo makes the trip to Muncie. The Cardinals enter Sunday's contest with a 3-5 record, while the Cougars boast an 11-2 mark. The fourth meeting in the series is scheduled for a 1 p.m. tip.
BSU looks to snap a two-game losing streak against an opponent that the Cardinals have seen three times previously. Ball State holds a 3-0 series lead over IU Kokomo, including a 92-52 win on Nov. 29, 2016, in Worthen Arena. The Cardinals look to continue a streak of scoring 90 or more points against the Cougars, as BSU has scored 90 or more in the previous meetings.
Last time out, Ball State fell to Xavier, 96-50. Tyler Cochran tied for the team lead in points with 10 and added a team-high four steals. Luke Bumbalough chipped in with 10 points as well. Demarius Jacobs and Basheer Jihad led the team with four rebounds each. Bumbalough and Jacobs tied for the team lead in assists with a pair each. Jihad had the team's lone block of the contest.
Bumbalough leads the team averaging 13.3 points per game and has a team-best 3.3 assists per game. Payton Sparks paces the Cardinals on the glass with 5.6 rebounds per game. Cochran has a team-high 14 steals and is second on the team with 21 assists. Miryne Thomas and Jihad are tied for the team lead in blocks, with four each.
The Cougars are led by Trequan Spivey, who averages 16.8 points per game and is the leader with 3.5 assists per game. Desean Hampton is second on the team with 12.0 points per game, while Allante Harper rounds out the double-digit averages with 10.8 points per game. Hampton has an average of 10.7 rebounds per game to lead the team.
