Ball State ready to run at NCAA Great Lakes Regional
November 11, 2021 | Cross Country
Cardinals are one of 33 teams slated to compete in 6k race
MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State cross country team is set to compete at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Friday morning. The 6k run, hosted by Evansville at Angel Mounds Cross Country Course, is set to begin at 11 a.m. ET.
"We're excited about this opportunity," Cardinals head coach Adrian Wheatley said. "I'm excited to see how our team rebounds from the conference championship. Several individuals ran lifetime PRs or close to PRS and we had some individuals who did not have their best performance at that meet. I'm excited to see how they respond. It's going to be a loaded field and there's going to be a great opportunity to see what we're made of."
Ball State is one of 33 teams slated to run, which includes four nationally ranked teams – No. 12 Michigan, No. 13 Wisconsin, No. 16 Michigan State and No. 25 Notre Dame.
The Cardinals will send eight runners to the annual postseason meet: Maddie Aul, Elka Machan, Sarah Mahnensmith, Kylee Mastin, Jenna Schifferer, Carly Spletzer, Juliana Stogsdill and Vivian Van Eck.
Ball State is coming off a seventh-place finish at the Mid-American Conference Championship. Machan placed fourth and earned all-conference honors.
