Cardinals Host RedHawks for Regular-Season Finale

MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State soccer team will be back in action for the final time of the 2021 season on Thursday as Miami makes the trip to Muncie for one last Mid-American Conference match. The Cardinals enter Thursday with an overall record of 5-9-2 and a 3-5-2 mark in MAC play, while the RedHawks are 8-7-3 overall and are 5-5 in conference contests. First touch for Thursday's matchup is scheduled for 3 p.m. from the Briner Sports Complex.
BSU is coming off its best match of the season where the Cardinals claimed a 5-0 victory on Senior Day over Northern Illinois. Kennedy Metzger, Avery Fenchel, Lexi Fraley, and Abby Elgert all picked up goals, while the match's first goal was an own goal. Jenna Dombrowski collected two assists, while Nicky Potts and Kaitlyn Fraser added one assist each.
Chelcy Ralph leads the Cardinals with eight points on four goals. Fraley is second on the team with three goals and is tied for second with six points. Potts is tied for second on the squad with six points on two goals and two assists. The Cardinals have 12 other players with at least one point on the year. Alex DeRuvo has made 58 saves in goal for BSU this season and leads the team.
Ball State holds a 13-8-3 record against Miami. The Cardinals have won the last five meetings, with two of those matches needing extra time to determine a winner.
