June 23, 2020 | Men's Tennis
MUNCIE, Ind. - Ball State men's tennis player Chris Adams was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America At-Large Third Team.Â
A junior from Port Huron, Michigan, Adams was named to the Academic All-District Team back in May. Adams played No. 1 doubles for the Cardinals alongside teammate Vince Orlando. The duo's spring was highlighted by a win at Big Ten foe Michigan State to help the Ball State claim the doubles point over the Spartans. Adams also competed on courts one and two in singles action, posting a 5-4 mark before the season was canceled in mid-March.Â
In three years, Adams owns a perfect 4.0 grade point average while majoring in accounting. He was one of only two men's tennis players from the Mid-American Conference to be placed on a CoSIDA Academic All-America Team.
Despite the cancellation of spring competition during COVID-19, CoSIDA continued its sponsorship of the Academic All-America awards program. Student-athletes were selected based on career statistics. The CoSIDA Academic All-America teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.Â
