Parrish Named MAC Men’s Tennis Singles Player of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Freshman Parrish Simmons (Huntsville, Ala./Homeschooled) claimed this week's Mid-American Conference Men's Tennis Singles Player of the Week honors. Simmons has been quite a force for the Cardinals this season, holding a 6-2 singles mark as a true freshman.
In Ball State's lone match this week, Simmons was the last man standing Friday against Cleveland State's Kade Mindry on court four. With the match tied 3-3 between the Cardinals and the Vikings, Simmons managed to clinch match point for the Ball State with his three-set thriller. Simmons had dropped the first frame to Mindry but came back to take the second set by a score of 6-3. With the third frame knotted 6-6, Parrish fought hard to take the tiebreaker from Mindry 7-6 (7-5), sealing the win for Ball State.
Parrish also played at the No. 2 doubles position winning his match against the Vikings alongside teammate Thibault de Negri. The Cardinals have won all but one doubles point against their respective opponents this season.
The Ball State men's tennis team continues non-conference action Friday at Valparaiso. The match is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. ET.
