Women’s Tennis Wraps Up Weekend On The Road With 4-3 Win At Middle Tennessee

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Ball State women's tennis team wrapped up its weekend with a 4-3 win at Middle Tennessee Saturday afternoon at the Adams Tennis Complex. With the win, the Cardinals improved their overall record to 4-1 while the Blue Raiders fall to 3-2 on the season.
Ball State won its second straight road match by getting off to a strong start. The Cardinals took the doubles point from the Blue Raiders after winning on courts one and three. Rebecca Herrington paired up with Emily Desai at position three. The duo beat Noelle Mauro and Muskan Gupta, 6-3. On the top court, Emma Peeler and Livia Lukacs helped clinch the doubles point after defeating Middle Tennessee's twosome of Lee Barnard and Zani Barnard, 6-4.
Middle Tennessee started to fight its way back into the match taking three singles points from the Cardinals. Jessica Braun won in straights sets over Zani Barnard on the top court, 6-4, 6-3 to keep BSU on the winning track while teammate Amy Kaplan also took her match over Marta Peris Herrero, 6-3, 6-4 at No. 4 position. Lukacs wrapped things up for Ball State with a three set thriller (4-6, 6-2, 6-4) against Mauro at position five to help seal Ball State's victory this afternoon.
The Ball State women's tennis team will take a break from competition next week and will return to the court on Feb. 14 against Northern Iowa in Kalamazoo, Mich. at 2 p.m.
