Jenness Named Preseason All-MIVA; Cardinals Picked Third

MUNCIE, Ind. - Junior outside attacker Kaleb Jenness (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) has been named to the Preseason All-MIVA Team (Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association) while the Cardinals were picked to finish third in the preseason poll, the league announced Wednesday.
Last season Jenness was named to the AVCA All-American Honorable Mention Team (American Volleyball Coaches Association), he also received All-MIVA First Team accolades while appearing in 17 matches and 59 sets. He earned a career high 26 kills on Jan. 23, 2020 against No. 12 George Mason. Although the Ball State men's volleyball season was cut short last year due to the Global COVID-19 pandemic, Jenness finished the abbreviated season with a team high 246 kills.
Not only is Jenness a threat offensively but he also has defensive skills earning MIVA Defensive Player of the Week for recording 10 digs in both matches against Ohio State and Sacred Heart.
The Cardinals ended their season with a 12-6 overall record and a 4-3 conference mark. Ball State closed out the season with three straight wins against Quincy (Feb. 29), Ohio State (March 4) and Sacred Heart (March 7).
Ball State is coached by longtime men's volleyball veteran Joel Walton. Walton announced in November that he will retire following the completion of the 2021 season.
