Women’s Golf Lands Payton Bennett in 2021 Signing Class

Well-rounded athlete from Canada to join Cardinals program
MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Ball State women's golf program has signed accomplished Canadian junior player Payton Bennett to a National Letter of Intent. She will join the Cardinals' program next fall.
Bennett, from St. John Henry Newman in Stoney Creek, Ontario, is an eight-time winner on the Niagara Junior Tour. She won the 2019 Niagara District Champion of Champions tournament and claimed individual, partner and team victories at the Ontario Team Tours challenge.
"I am thrilled to add Payton to our roster for the 2021-22 school year," Ball State coach Katherine Mowat said. "She is an incredible athlete with a work ethic second to none. Her passion for the game of golf and her willingness to learn will make her a tremendous teammate. I am confident she will have a great impact on our golf program."
Bennett is a three-time team MVP at St. John Henry Newman with her senior season still to play. She has reached the regional high school championships all three years and qualified for the provincial championships as a freshman.
Also a varsity ice hockey and badminton player, Bennett carries a 4.0 GPA. She is a three-time provincial girls hockey champion and scored the game-winning goal in the 2018 championship game. Born in Akron, Ohio, she holds dual citizenship. Her brother Ethan is a golfer at Gannon University in Pennsylvania.
