November 11, 2020 | Women's Swimming and Diving
CLEVELAND, Ohio - - For her role in helping the Ball State women's swimming & diving program turn in a 2-0 record last weekend, sophomore Apsara Sakbun has been named the Mid-American Conference Women's Swimmer of the Week.
Sakbun led the Cardinals with four individual wins and was a member of two first-place relays to help account for six of Ball State's 22 event victories over the weekend.
In Friday's 165-92 win over Eastern Illinois, Sakbun swam anchor for the 200 medley relay which clocked in at 1:45.35 to give BSU the top spot in the first race of the 2020-21 season. She also picked up individual wins in the 50 freestyle (24.17) and 200 backstroke (2:07.08).
In Saturday's 172-127 victory over MAC rival Bowling Green, Sakbun once again kicked off the meet by swimming anchor for the winning 200 medley relay. She followed by sweeping the freestyle sprints, claiming top billing in the 50 (24.15) and 100 (52.76).
Sakbun and the rest of the Ball State swimming & diving program will look to return to action at least one more time before winter break. Stay tuned to BallStateSports.com for future schedule updates.
