Wilborn recorded more than 160 tackles over two seasons at Ball State
The Pittsburgh Steelers announced Friday they have signed former Ball State football player Ray Wilborn to their practice squad as a linebacker.
Wilborn, who played both linebacker and safety at Ball State, started all 24 games over his two seasons with the Cardinals after joining the program from Garden City Community College.
Wilborn recorded 83 tackles in both of his seasons, leading Ball State in that category as a junior in 2018. He had a team-high 10.5 tackles for loss that season at linebacker and then recorded a pair of interceptions as a senior after moving to safety last fall.
Pittsburgh, which leads the AFC North with a 5-0 record, is the second NFL team to bring Wilborn on board. The Atlanta Falcons signed him as a rookie free agent back in April.
Ball State has two former players on active NFL rosters. Receiver Willie Snead IV is in his sixth NFL season and third with the Baltimore Ravens, while Danny Pinter, selected in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft, is a rookie offensive lineman with the Indianapolis Colts.
