Five Men’s Tennis Players Receive Academic All-MAC Honors

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Seniors Conner Andersen, Marko Guzina and Nemanja Guzina along with sophomores Chris Adams and Bryce Bonin of the Ball State men's tennis team have been named to the 2019 Academic All-Mid-American Conference Team, as announced by the league office. This is the third time Andersen and the Guzina brothers have earned the honor.
Adams, a first-time honoree, owns a perfect 4.0 GPA in accounting. He played in 32 matches for the Cardinals this season, primarily at the No. 4 singles position. Adams also played alongside fellow honoree Andersen at the No. 3 doubles slot. Andersen, who holds a 3.936 GPA in accounting, combined with Adams to led the Cardinals in doubles action with a 17-12 record. Andersen also posted a 4-1 singles mark, mainly at the No. 6 position. Bonin has also earned the award for the first time in his career. He boasts a 3.736 GPA in marketing and played in a total of 18 matches.
Marko earned his third MAC postseason award this year, as he was named Second Team All-MAC and to the MAC All-Tournament Team for the second time in his career. His twin brother Nemanja also earned All-MAC Second Team accolades this season. Marko and Nemanja played at the top two singles positions and at No. 1 doubles together. The Toronto, Canada natives own a 3.693 and a 3.618 GPA, respectively, in finance and computer information systems.
To be eligible for Academic All-MAC a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50% of the contests in the particular sport. First-year students (true freshman) and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award. Also, four-year transfer and graduate transfers also are not eligible for the award.
