Saturday Washout Forces Potential 36-Hole Final Day at MAC Championships
April 20, 2019 | Women's Golf
Tournament slated to resume Sunday at 10 a.m., course conditions permitting
NOBLESVILLE, Ind. -- Day two of the MAC Women's Golf Championships was a total washout Saturday at Purgatory Golf Club. Persistent rains rendered the course unplayable.
The plan now is to play the final two rounds Sunday with a 10 a.m. shotgun start, as long as course conditions permit. If the 10 a.m. start is not possible, the teams would play just one round off split tees at 11 a.m., and the champion would be crowned at the conclusion.
Ball State is tied for sixth place as a team after brutally tough conditions in Friday's opening round. Freshman Hadley Moritz leads the way individually in a tie for fifth, two shots off the pace, after an opening 76.
Toledo holds a two-shot lead over 10th-ranked Kent State at the top of the leaderboard.
