BSU-IU Round 1 Goes To Indiana

Same teams will battle at Victory Field next week
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The first of two battles between Indiana's top baseball teams went to Indiana 14-3 on Tuesday. While the home team got the best of BSU Tuesday night, the Cardinals will be the home team Tuesday, April 23 when they meet at Victory Field.
IU (25-12), currently 2nd in the Big Ten standings, scored 4 times in 3 different innings to take command of the game. The home team scored 4 in the 1st, 5th and 7th innings. The Nos. 2 and 4 hitters in the lineup, Matt Gorski and Scotty Bradley, combined for 5 hits and 7 RBIs. As a team, Indiana hit 5 home runs.
Ball State (23-13) managed 5 hits but struck out 14 times against a trio of Indiana pitchers. Trailing 4-0 early, the Cardinals battled back with a pair of runs on RBIs by Chase Sebby and Ross Messina. The middle innings went to Indiana before Aaron Simpson added a sac fly for Ball State's final run of the night.
A key weekend lies ahead as Ball State travels to Miami in a battle for the top of the MAC standings. Miami is 2.0 games ahead of the Cardinals, who are tied with Central Michigan for 2nd place. Friday's series opener begins at 5 p.m. ET.
