Canadian golfer will join Cardinals after two years at New Mexico State
MUNCIE, Ind. -- British Columbia native and New Mexico State transfer Tiegan Taylor has signed scholarship papers to enroll at Ball State next year and compete for the women's golf team.
Taylor will have two years of eligibility for the Cardinals and will join a program that does not lose any of its eight golfers to graduation.
"I am confident that Tiegan's maturity, both on and off the course, will add tremendous depth to our team," Ball State head coach Katherine Mowat said. "Her leadership skills, competitive nature and drive are remarkable."
Taylor played in 15 tournaments over her two years at New Mexico State, including all seven this season before deciding to transfer. She had a pair of top-25 finishes as a freshman, including a tie for 23rd at the WAC Championships. She carded a low round of 73 this season at Colorado State's Ram Classic where she helped the Aggies to a tournament victory.
Taylor played in the 2016 U.S. Girls' Junior Championship after winning the qualifier in Idaho. She also played in the Canadian Girls' Junior twice.
Taylor owns three top-15 finishes in the British Columbia Women's Amateur Championship, including a tie for ninth in 2017. She competed four times in the BC Girls' Junior, placing eighth in 2017, and twice played for Team BC in the Junior America's Cup.
"Tiegan has already proven she is capable of competing and experiencing success at this level," Mowat said. "I am thrilled about adding an impact player of her caliber to our roster."
Ball State's roster next year will feature four international players, with Taylor and Ontario's Dylann Armstrong from Canada, Manon Tounalom from France and Ja Santadusit from Thailand.
