Minnesota standout will join the Cards in Fall 2019
Ball State has signed gymnastics standout Alivia Ostendorf to a National Letter of Intent. Ostendorf, a native of Ramsey, Minnesota, will join the Cardinals as a freshman for the 2019-20 season.
"We are very excited to bring Alivia into our Cardinal Family. This young lady has been consistently doing high level gymnastics for over four years," head coach Joanna Saleem said. "I am looking forward to her positive leadership and calm disposition. Her wealth of training and successful competitive experience will be great for our Ball State program."
She competed for her club, Twin City Twisters, for 14 years and is no stranger to high-level competition. Twin City won 11 straight state championships, including all four years with Ostendorf competing at Level 10. Individually, she placed 5th in the all-around at 2019 regionals and was 9th on floor at the 2018 Junior Olympics Championships. In 2017, she was 17th in the all-around at the Junior Olympics national meet.
Â
"She has grown up in a club that continues to be one of the top programs in the country and she has trained with elite and Olympic-level gymnasts and has a true understanding of this sport," Saleem said. "I think our fans are going to really enjoy cheering for this dynamic young woman."

Ostendorf attended Anoka High School, where she was an honor roll student and competed in basketball and volleyball. She adds to an exciting incoming class for Ball State, which also added Grace Evans and Megan Phillips during the fall signing period.
Four of the team's top five scorers - and two NCAA qualifiers - from the 2019 season are scheduled to return for BSU, which won 10 meets this season.
