MUNCIE, Ind. - - Ball State gymnastics head coach Joanna Saleem will add a pair of high-level gymnasts to her squad for the 2019-20 academic year with the signing of Grace Evans (Dallas, Georgia / North Paulding) and Megan Phillips (Quebec, Canada / Ecole Secondaire Antoine-de-Saint Exupery).
Â
"We are very excited to welcome Grace and Megan to the Ball State gymnastics family," Saleem said. "Both have competed at very high levels over their careers, and their experience and competitive drive will be great assets to our program."
Â
ABOUT GRACE EVANS:
Evans, a Dallas, Georgia native, is a level 10 gymnast and has spent the last 10 years training at The Gymnastics Academy of Atlanta. In May of 2017, Evan qualified for the Junior Olympic Nationals in Indianapolis, going on to win the Junior F uneven bars title with a score of 9.675. In addition, Evans enters her senior season at North Paulding High School as a three-time First Team All-State selection, earning the honor on bars as a freshman and sophomore, then on beam as a junior. SALEEM ON EVANS:
Grace has a quiet demeanor that is perfectly paired with an absolutely fierce determination. She will bring some exceptionally beautiful gymnastics to our program. She has amazing lines and you get lost watching her perform, everything she does is just so pretty!
Â
As two-time JO Nationals qualifier and 2017 National Bar Champion, Grace will bring four years of high-level competition experience to the table. Being the second youngest of six children, she is a natural team player who understands individual accountability while working as a unit to achieve success. She is an outstanding student that will transition into college easily and immediately make a positive impact with our program.Â
