Samz and Walker Named To Academic All-MAC Team

CLEVELAND – Ball State senior Jasmin Samz and junior Aliyah Walker have been named to the 2019 Academic All-Mid-American Conference Team for women's basketball. This is the second straight season Samz has earned Academic All-MAC honors and the first time for Walker.
Samz, an exercise science major, owns a 3.465 GPA. She ended the season second on the team in scoring (11.0) and first in field goal percentage (47.0). The Wasau, Wis., native scored a career-high 26 points at home against Central Michigan on Feb. 27. She started all 31 games this year and reached double-digit scoring 20 times.
Walker is majoring in family and child development and owns a 3.396 GPA. The Indianapolis native appeared in 29 games for Ball State this season, scoring a season-high eight points on two seperate ocassions, against Duke (Nov. 24) and at home versus Tennessee State (Dec. 21). She pulled down a season-best eight rebounds against Urbana (Dec. 30).
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of her team's contests.
