Men's Tennis Victorious At Home In Friday Doubleheader

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State men's tennis team shut out Indiana University Southeast in Friday's doubleheader, winning both matches at home by a 7-0 decision. With the wins, the Cardinals improved their overall record this spring to 5-7.
The Cardinals secured the doubles point in both matches today. In Ball State's first match of the day, the twin brother duo of Nemanja and Marko Guzina edged out a 6-4 win on the top court over Garrett Fensler and Brock Winchell. Both Tom Carney and Thibault De Negri along with Khamasi Muhiga and Alec Robbillard claimed matches over their respective opponents by a score of 6-2. Ball State dominated doubles play in the second match as well, Carney and De Negril along with teammates Muhiga and Bryce Bonin earned 6-1 wins on courts one and three, respectively. The No. 2 doubles tandem of Chris Adams and Conner Andersen beat Daulton Fensler and Alec Bates, 6-2.
In singles play, Ball State took victories on all 12 courts from the Grenadiers. Bonin played at the No. 5 position in the first match and shut out Sam Venter in both sets, 6-0, 6-0 as did his teammate Chris Adams on court three. All the Cardinals won their singles matches today in straight sets.
The Ball State men's tennis team continues its five-match homestand on Saturday when it hosts Taylor University in a doubleheader at the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center. The first match will begin at 2 p.m. and the second match is schedule for a 4:30 p.m. first serve.
