Women's Tennis Sweeps Toledo In MAC Action Sunday

TOLEDO, Ohio - The Ball State women's tennis team closed its first weekend of Mid-American Conference action on a high note after taking down Toledo 7-0 Sunday afternoon at the Twos Athletic Club.
Beginning with doubles action, senior Audrey Berger and junior Rebecca Herrington continued to compete at the top spot for the Cardinals. The twosome, were the first pair off the court today after defeating the Rockets, Deedee Leenabanchong and Kokoro Chishaki, 6-1. Sophomore Victoria Sec and senior Sarah Swiderski also won by a 6-1 decision on court three. The duo clinched the doubles point for Ball State to give the Cardinals the early 1-0 advantage over Toledo.
In singles competition, the Cardinals took all six courts from the Rockets. Senior Peyton Gollhofer raced to a straight set victory at position three over Chishaki, making the score 2-0. Berger would follow suit on the top court also winning in straight sets. Sec then clinched the win for the Cardinals, claiming a 6-1, 6-3 decision over Aleck.
After that, Ball State earned wins on the remaining three courts all in straight sets with the exception of Swiderski who won 6-7, 7-5, 10-6.
The Ball State women's tennis team continues Mid-American Conference action on the road when it travels to Miami University Friday for a 1 p.m. first serve against the RedHawks in Oxford, Ohio.
